Peak Season Fishing times:
-
Blue Marlin Season: June-November with the best months of the migration being August-October. Average size Fish are between 150-250 pounds with 300-400 lb ones out there. When fishing for Blue Marlin, there is always the possibility of catching White Marlin, Sailfish and Dorado. They all hang in offshore currents. There are resident Blue Marlin year round and randomly we catch them while targeting Dorado.
-
Wahoo Season: October-April is when we see the highest concentration of Wahoo. They range from 10-100 pounds. Average size Wahoo range from 25-35 pounds with numerous 40-50 pound fish around. You can expect to also catch King Mackerel, Blackfin Tuna, Dorado and Barracuda when trolling for Wahoo.
-
Mahi Mahi (Dorado) Season: Sporadic throughout the year. They will be found along weedlines and floating debris throughout the year. Mahi Mahi on the South and West Coast are anywhere from 5-30 pounds. There is always a chance to get into the 40-50 and even 60-70 pound fish, when the big bulls are migrating Roth from Venezuela. Typically these fish are caught on weedlines and currents.
-
Tuna Season: Tuna can be caught throughout most of the year. Blackfin Tuna are anywhere from 5-20 pound range. They are around all year. Yellowfin aren’t as common because they come in waves. The average size of the yellowfin depending on the time of year range from 20-60 pounds. Trolling small baits on planer rigs is deadly when Blackfin are chewing and drifting live sardines is hands down the best way to raise both species.
